Future Positive x Al Brown
Al’s career
For Al, food is a vehicle for so much more than just taste or flavour. It’s conversation, it’s fun, it’s making memories. It’s perhaps this simple philosophy - that people and places are as key to food as the sum of the ingredients - that has made Al so successful. Well, that and the fact he’s a fabulous chef.
This magic maker has been winning culinary awards since the 1990’s, and is the man behind many of Auckland’s favourite eateries, like Best Ugly Bagels, Federal Delicatessen and Depot.
But Al’s passion takes him beyond the four walls of a kitchen. He presented TV shows such as Hunger for the Wild, Dishing Up Australia and Coasters, and has written numerous books.
Al is also an ambassador for Garden to Table - a programme to help children learn how to grow, harvest and prepare fresh food.
Al's wheels
Santa Fe
Al’s relationship with Hyundai, and the Santa Fe in particular, stretches back over a decade. Here’s a man who loves his road trips, and with his family in tow, chose a car that can go the distance - with the space to boot.
That’s what the Santa Fe is all about. It’s New Zealand’s favourite family SUV, with 20 years of history making it one of the safest, smoothest cars of its type - perfect for a Kiwi road trip, and an unexpected gravel road or two.
