IONIQ 5 is New Zealand's Car of the Year

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has been awarded the 2021 New Zealand Car of the Year – the most prestigious and longest-running industry award in the country.

The New Zealand Car of the Year is selected by members of the New Zealand Motoring Writers’ Guild, the professional body for motoring journalists from around the country. The Guild’s two-dozen voting members test the vehicles in their home environment – important for providing a ‘real world’ result.

2021 DriveLife Best Gadget of the Year

The IONIQ 5 Limited Solar Panel roof surprised the judges with its power output recharging the battery even in wet weather conditions. This award is all about looks. It’s the same excellent i30N recipe, with its blistering performance and the raucous turbo and exhaust noises, packaged in a sexy new Fastback body with Performance Blue paint. We're excited to be recognised Drive Life as the Hottest Car of the Year for 2020.

Kona Electric awarded Stuff Top Plug-In Car 2018

Electric vehicles are undoubtedly the way of the future and Hyundai NZ is leading the charge. After the New Zealand launch of Kona in 2017, we added an all-electric, zero-emission model to our SUV range. Thought to be something of a milestone in the EV market the all-new Kona Electric was the first compact e-SUV to launch in New Zealand. We are extremely pleased to see it recognised as Stuff’s Top Plug-In Car of 2018

IONIQ 6 World Car of the Year 2023

The IONIQ 6 has been named World Car of the Year for 2023, and along with that award, it also picked up World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year!

This is Hyundai’s second straight triple honours at the World Car Awards, with IONIQ 5 winning the same categories last year.

IONIQ 5 is the World Car of the Year

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 won big at the prestigious 2022 World Car Awards, with the all-electric SUV named World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year.

IONIQ 5 was recognised by a jury of 102 automotive journalists from 33 countries around the world. The innovative battery electric vehicle (BEV), which has already won New Zealand Car of the Year, won all three categories in which it was nominated.

2022 UK Car of the Year: Hyundai IONIQ 5

Having already been recognized as Best Family Car in the UK Car of the Year Awards shortlist, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was crowned best car overall by a panel of 29 expert judges from a diverse array of titles covering the British automotive industry, including The Sunday Times, The Daily Express, The Telegraph, The Independent, Top Gear, Auto Express, CAR, Evo and Business Car.

2022 Electric Car of the Year + Medium SUV of the Year (Auto Bild)

Hyundai won in two categories at once in the “Best Import Cars of the Year” of the trade magazine Auto Bild. In the “Medium SUV” category, the Hyundai Tucson convinced the editors and stood at the top of the podium, while IONIQ 5 won in the “Electric Car” category.

2022 German Car of the Year: Hyundai IONIQ 5

 Fresh on the market and already a true winner: Hyundai Motor’s IONIQ 5 has been named as 2022 “German Car of the Year” (GCOTY) and championing the “New Energy” category.

2021 carsales Car of the Year: IONIQ 5

IONIQ 5 has won the 2021 carsales Car of the Year award, as well as the carsales People's Choice Car of the Year award. 

“Our judges loved the way the IONIQ 5 drives, the way it looks, its space, tech and amenity, and the fact it says so much about what’s to come from one of the auto industry’s most exciting brands,” said carsales Editor-in-Chief, Mike Sinclair.

2021 News Corp Car of the Year + EV of the Year: IONIQ 5

IONIQ 5 was awarded '2021 Car of the Year' by Australia's largest media group, News Corp Australia. This is the first time that News Corp has selected an electric vehicle (EV) as the car of the year. 

Hyundai U.S. wins more Best Cars for the Money Awards than any other Brand.

Hyundai's SUV range represents the best combination of long-term value and excellent ownership experience. Scores are based on safety and reliability data, as well as the collective opinion of the automotive press. 

With the Santa Fe, Tucson, Kona and Hybrid models all coming away with best in class awards.

Hyundai's 2022 Santa Fe Awarded Highest Safety Rating TSP+ by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS, USA)

The 'Brand of the Year' award was given to the brand that has come up with an innovative and creative design on a particularly high level, and the Red Dot Awards praised Hyundai's innovative design solutions, quality of design and brand management expertise.

Hyundai NZ, best distributor in Asia Pacific

Hyundai Motor Company regularly award their top-performing distributors around the word and in 2011 Hyundai Motors New Zealand was named number one in Asia pacific, ahead of stiff competition from the larger markets of China, Japan, Vietnam and Laos. It’s the first time we’ve won this award outright, having shared the glory with the Philippines in 2006.
