Why is Hyundai selling cars online rather than through a traditional car dealership?

Customers are still able to purchase a car via one of our Hyundai dealerships around New Zealand. With more and more customers now making purchases online, we have built a tool which enables you to purchase a vehicle directly from the comfort of your own home if you wish to.

Why can you only purchase an IONIQ 5 online via the new sales tool?

Over the coming months more models will be added to the online sales tool. In the meantime, you can place a deposit for other models here:

When will I receive my IONIQ 5?

The IONIQ 5 is an extremely popular model both locally and overseas. We do have limited stock with more currently on order. Once your order has been placed, our sales team will work with you to provide an ETA. If you would like to have an ETA prior to ordering, please give us a call on 0800 HYUNDAI (498 632).

I did not receive my order confirmation email

Please check your junk mail as we have had limited reports of the email ending up there. Alternatively, please contact our customer service team on 0800 HYUNDAI (498 632) and we’ll check to make sure we have your correct email address.

The order confirmation displayed the wrong model or accessories

You’ve only asked for a $1,000 deposit, when is the remaining amount due?

A member of our sales team will discuss this with you once the order has been placed. Generally, the full amount is due prior to the vehicle being registered and delivered to your local dealership where you can pick it up from.

Is the $1,000 deposit refundable?

Yes, the deposit is fully refundable prior to the vehicle being registered which would only take place once full payment has been received.

Am I able to test drive an IONIQ 5 prior to placing an order online?

Yes, you are able to arrange a test drive at any one of our Hyundai dealers across NZ. Give us a call on 0800 HYUNDAI to arrange a time.

I’ve already placed an order but I’d like to change the spec/colour. Is this possible?

Please email our customer service team ( and a member of our sales team will contact you to discuss what options are available.

Can I still visit a dealership and purchase an IONIQ 5 directly from them?

Yes, you can purchase an IONIQ 5 at any Hyundai NZ dealership across the country or start your purchase online.

If I purchase online directly from Hyundai will I be able to still visit my local dealership for servicing?

Yes, regardless of where you purchase your IONIQ 5 from, you will be able to visit any Hyundai dealer or service center across the country for support.

If I purchase my IONIQ 5 online, can I get it delivered to my home rather than to a dealership?

This is something that you can discuss with your local dealer once the vehicle is ready for delivery/pick-up.

I’d like to trade in a vehicle, is this still possible if I start the purchasing process online?

While going through the purchase process online we will ask if you have a trade-in. If you select yes, then a member of our team will contact you after you’ve paid the deposit to capture details of your trade-in.

I’m not happy with the valuation I received for my trade-in. Can I get a refund?

If you are not happy with the trade-in valuation you are able to request a refund. To request a refund, please contact us on 0800 HYUNDAI (498 632). Alternatively you can ask your dealership to request a refund on your behalf.

How long does a refund take to process?

Refunds generally take between 5-10 business days to process. Refunds will be processed via the payment type you chose i.e. Credit Card or Poli Pay.
