Hyundai Servicing in New Zealand

Regular servicing is one of the best ways to help keep your Hyundai performing at its best, maintain its safety systems and identify potential issues early.

At Hyundai, scheduled servicing is designed around your vehicle’s age, mileage and powertrain. Whether you drive a petrol, hybrid, diesel or electric Hyundai, Hyundai-trained technicians can maintain your vehicle using factory information, diagnostic equipment and Hyundai Genuine Parts.

Here’s what to know about Hyundai servicing in New Zealand.

What is included in a Hyundai scheduled service?

The exact work completed at a service depends on your Hyundai model, powertrain, age, mileage and maintenance schedule. However, a standard Hyundai Core Service typically includes the scheduled maintenance requirements and inspections specified for your vehicle.

For applicable petrol, hybrid and diesel vehicles, this can include Hyundai-recommended engine oil and a genuine Hyundai oil filter. Electric vehicles do not require engine oil or oil-filter replacement.

A Core Service price includes:

  • Scheduled maintenance requirements and inspections for the relevant service interval
  • Hyundai-recommended engine oil and a genuine Hyundai oil filter, where applicable
  • Technician labour
  • Environmental or waste-disposal charges (Standard)
  • GST

Your technician may identify additional items that are due at a particular interval or require attention based on the vehicle’s condition. These can include replacement maintenance items, tyres, brakes, fluids, air-conditioning work or repairs outside normal scheduled maintenance.

Any additional recommended work should be explained and quoted separately. It should only go ahead with your approval.

When is my Hyundai service due?

Service intervals vary by model and powertrain. Across the Hyundai range, scheduled service intervals generally range from:

  • Every one to two years; or
  • Every 10,000 to 30,000 kilometres

Your service is due based on time or distance travelled, whichever comes first.

The correct interval for your vehicle is set out in your owner’s manual and its applicable Standard Maintenance Requirements Sheet. If you are unsure when your next service is due, your preferred Hyundai service centre can confirm it using your registration number and vehicle details.

If you drive in demanding conditions - for example, frequent short trips, heavy traffic, towing, dusty roads or regular stop-start driving - additional maintenance may be recommended. Your service adviser can help you understand what applies to your vehicle and driving habits.

Why choose an authorised Hyundai service centre?

Hyundai service centres use technicians trained specifically to work on Hyundai vehicles. They have access to Hyundai diagnostic equipment and factory-supplied vehicle information, helping them identify issues that can be easy to miss during a general inspection.

When you service with an authorised Hyundai dealer or service agent, you can expect:

  • Hyundai-trained technicians
  • Hyundai diagnostic equipment and model-specific information
  • Hyundai Genuine Parts where required
  • A service process aligned with Hyundai’s recommended maintenance schedule
  • Access to a nationwide network of authorised service centres

Keeping your Hyundai serviced in line with its recommended schedule can also support warranty eligibility and help maintain a clear service history for future owners.

What is capped price servicing?

For eligible models and powertrains, Hyundai offers Capped Service Menu Pricing at manufacturer-recommended service intervals.

The capped price represents the maximum retail price an authorised Hyundai dealer may charge for the listed Core Service. Actual pricing can vary by dealer or location and may be lower.

Capped service pricing does not include repairs, accident damage, wear-and-tear items or additional work identified outside the scope of the scheduled maintenance interval. If further work is recommended, your service centre will discuss it with you and provide a separate quote before proceeding.

Ask your local Hyundai service centre to confirm pricing and eligibility for your vehicle when you book.

Can I prepay for Hyundai servicing?

Hyundai Pre-Paid Service Plans let you pay for scheduled servicing in advance. Plans are available for a minimum of two service intervals and can be purchased for a range of Hyundai vehicles, including older models.

A pre-paid plan can help you budget for planned maintenance by locking in scheduled servicing costs ahead of time. Plans are transferable if you sell your vehicle, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

For selected eligible Hyundai models registered from 1 January 2025, purchasing a qualifying Hyundai Service Plan may also form part of the requirements for Hyundai’s extended warranty programme. Check the current terms and eligibility before purchasing.
