NZ Golf Open players given world first opportunity to Drive for Good
Players at this year’s ISPS Handa New Zealand Golf Open are playing for more than just the kudos of a hole in one – they have the chance to win a brand-new Hyundai Santa Fe for one of three great kiwi charities.
Hyundai is calling for Kiwis to put in their votes for their preferred charity out of KidsCan, St John and Spirit of Adventure. If any player at the NZ Golf Open hits a hole in one, the charity with the most votes will take home a 7-seater Santa Fe SUV, worth over $60,000.
Andy Sinclair from Hyundai New Zealand says playing for charity like this at a Golf Open isn’t done anywhere else in the world, and it’s exciting to see New Zealand leading the charge with Drive for Good.
“The New Zealand Golf Open is a massive event on the sporting calendar, and we’re thrilled to be doing something different to help give back at the event,” he says.
“KidsCan, St John and Spirit of Adventure are such worthy charities and all deserving of support from us and the New Zealand public. We also think it’s refreshing that instead of asking for money we’re simply asking people to vote – we will take care of the rest or at least put the pressure on the golfers to give it their best shot!”
Kiwi motorsport star and Hyundai New Zealand ambassador Hayden Paddon says it is an honour to be part of the first Golf Open in the world that will see a charity take home such a generous prize.
“This is the first time I’ve competed in the New Zealand Golf Open, and there’s something really special about knowing I have a chance, however big or small, to win an incredible prize for a deserving charity,” he says.
“Through Drive for Good, Hyundai has created something around the hole in one that is so much more than a personal achievement – it’s an opportunity to really help Kiwis who are out there doing good every day. I would encourage all Kiwis to get online and vote for their preferred charity, every vote counts!”
