Hyundai New Zealand's EV Technical Training Programme recognised by MITO

Qualified Automotive Technicians across New Zealand can now upskill with a new qualification approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) that focuses on the safe inspection, servicing and repair of Electric Vehicles (EVs). MITO, the industry-training organisation for the automotive sector, has worked together with industry representatives to develop the qualification, the New Zealand Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering (Level 5).

Prior to MITO announcing the launch of its new Electric Vehicle qualification, Hyundai New Zealand worked with the training organisation to ensure its own well-established Electric Vehicle Technical Training programme, currently delivered to the Hyundai New Zealand dealer network, was in-line with MITO’s EV qualification.

As a result of this collaboration, Hyundai New Zealand’s Electric Vehicle Technical Training programme is now recognised by MITO. This will significantly shorten the time for the Hyundai EV Master Technicians to achieve the Level 5 qualification.

Hyundai New Zealand General Manager Andy Sinclair says, “This is great news for Hyundai New Zealand. The new qualification will benefit all of those in our Dealer Network, including our future EV Master Technicians, plus those who have already trained, as they are now well on their way towards their Level 5 qualification.”

“Investing in the best technical training to ensure all of the technicians in our Dealer Network are skilled and able to work on the latest Hyundai technologies is a top priority for us. We will continue to work alongside New Zealand Government agencies and training organisations to ensure the work we are doing is in alignment.”
