Hyundai New Zealand Extends New Vehicle Warranties and Service Intervals

Hyundai Motor Company has launched Hyundai CARE, a warranty extension policy for its vehicles worldwide. The program aims to support Hyundai customers who may face difficulties in getting vehicle maintenance due to restricted access to service centres during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hyundai New Zealand is taking it one-step further for their customers, offering further warranty and service interval extensions, as well as roadside assistance for those not eligible for the warranty extension.

The local distributor will ensure that all Hyundai vehicles with factory warranties that expire between 1 March and 31 May 2020, will benefit from a warranty extension until 30 June 2020. More than 2,000 Hyundai vehicles in New Zealand will be eligible for the warranty extension.

Hyundai vehicles due for scheduled servicing during the lockdown period will have an extension on the service interval until 30 June 2020. This means that a delayed service during the lockdown period will not affect a vehicle’s warranty.

For customers that are not eligible for either extension, Hyundai are offering complimentary six-month roadside assistance for the first 1,000 customers to register.

Hyundai’s decision comes amid a global reaction to the outbreak of COVID-19, which locally has caused a nationwide lockdown that includes closing non-essential facilities such as Hyundai dealerships and service centres. With Hyundai’s warranty extension, the company expects to help address any concerns customers may have about being unable to visit a Hyundai service centre to get vehicle maintenance or warranty repairs during the government-imposed lockdown.

The well-being of Hyundai customers and employees is a high priority for Hyundai New Zealand, which is closely monitoring COVID-19 developments and complying with all Government and Ministry of Health measures to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus.

“We appreciate that during lockdown our customers have no access to vehicle servicing during these unprecedented times,” said Andy Sinclair, General Manager at Hyundai New Zealand. “As a New Zealand owned company, we want to provide peace of mind to our customers regarding eligibility for warranty repairs and related services in the coming months. Not only do we care about our customers’ health and safety, we care about the ‘health’ and safety of their vehicles as well.”
