Hyundai launches fourth generation of New Zealand's favourite family SUV

Like the much-loved existing model, the new generation Santa Fe is a powerful, elegant SUV with best-in-class safety features, excellent driving dynamics and exceptional roominess.

Substantially bigger than the current model, it stands out in the large SUV market through an expressive and powerful front that adopts Hyundai’s new SUV-family identity with eye-catching twin headlamps and the signature front design feature, the Cascading Grille. The dynamic character of the side is enhanced by a sleek roof line and the bold side character line running from the headlights to the taillights to form a fluid design. The rear creates a confident and stable stance with unique tail lights, dual exhausts, and a striking bumper design

Hyundai’s Connected Car Service ‘AutoLink Premium’ makes its debut on the all-new Santa Fe. This provides a seamless overview of vehicle data, including real-time diagnostics, tyre pressure monitoring, driving history statistics, parking management, easy service booking, automatic access to roadside assistance and remote vehicle functions*.

Hyundai New Zealand General Manager Andy Sinclair says the fourth-generation Santa Fe is the cornerstone of the proud SUV heritage that Hyundai has built up in New Zealand. It also provides one of the best-in-class safety packages, remarkable roominess and innovative comfort features that will enhance the owner’s lifestyle.

“The Santa Fe is immensely popular because it suits our kiwi lifestyles– with over 20,000 already on our roads being testimony to that. We have worked hard to equip the vehicle, paying close attention to what our New Zealand drivers expect and what fits our active lifestyles, with safety being at the forefront. Launching Auto-Link will also provide even more customer benefits.”

The New Generation Santa Fe offers the choice of diesel and petrol engines, both with improved efficiency and refinement. With the arrival of HTRAC, Hyundai’s next generation all-wheel-drive technology, all Santa Fe models will be all-wheel drive. “We know Kiwis like to explore – it’s an integral part of our heritage – and so all New Zealand models will have all wheel drive to enhance the experience,” said Mr Sinclair.

Class-leading driving dynamics are combined with Hyundai’s SmartSense™ active safety and driving assistance technologies. Including Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Vulnerable Road User detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Occupant Alert and Safety Exit Assist.

“We’re excited to deliver innovative and new technologies with the family in mind. Rear Occupant Alert and Safety Exit Assist are world-first systems designed to keep rear seat passengers – particularly children – safe,” said Mr Sinclair. Rear Occupant Alert monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alerts the driver when leaving the car, helping to prevent tragic situations such as pets or children being left in vehicles.

Safety Exit Assist uses the vehicle’s SmartSense TM technologies to lock out a rear door when it detects the approach of a vehicle from behind, helping to prevent harm to a rear seat occupant leaving the vehicle without watching for a safe gap in traffic.

As always, Hyundai offers high levels of technology, connectivity and entertainment for all occupants. There is an on-board infotainment system that integrates all navigation, media and connectivity features, supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as Live Services. The new Santa Fe also offers wireless inductive charging technology for mobile phones and small devices. The Santa Fe features Hyundai’s new full head-up display that projects relevant driving and safety information directly onto the windscreen.

The new Santa Fe comes in either 2.4 petrol or 2.2 diesel with three variants (Entry, Elite and Limited. Prices range between $59,990 and $82,990 plus on-road costs.

“We believe the new Santa Fe will suit Kiwi’s active, busy lifestyles as never before. The vehicle makes a strong impression in traffic, and equally so at the beach or up the ski field. This is truly New Zealand’s SUV, and we are excited to be able to offer it through our nationwide dealer network from October” said Sinclair.
