ABS (Antilock braking) with EBD and BAS
All i30 variants feature the Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) system which works by applying the optimum pressure to individual brakes during emergency stopping situations. The i30 also features the Brake Assist (BAS) system which applies maximum force to brakes during emergency stopping situations. These braking technologies are standard on all model variants and work in harmony with ABS for superior safety.
ESP - Electronic Stability Programme
An advanced standard safety feature, ESP helps you avoid serious accidents by taking split second control of your car during critical sitiations. The ESP system acheieves this by comnparing the driver's intention with the momentary vehicle behaviour, and then controlling the Antilock Braking (ABS) and Traction Control Systems (TCS) accordingly. It selectively brakes individual wheels and controls engine power to stabilise the vehicle and keep it on track.
6 SRS airbags
In the event of a frontal or side impact there are six airbags all in i30 modles: these include dual front, dual side and dual front-to-rear roof curtain airbags. Front passengers also enjoy active head restraints, which provide better neck support by moving forward instantaneously in the event of a rear-end collision.

Elegance and performance is nothing without safety. A very high level of passenger safety is standard in all Hyundai vehicles and the i30 wagon is no exception. Our aim is to help drivers to avoid accidents happening in the first place. As a result the new i30 wagon is fitted with ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), an advanced safety feature that is aware of your intention versus the car’s actual movement - correcting slides and oversteering. Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) applies optimum pressure to individual brakes in emergency braking situations. BAS (Brake Assist) is a system that will apply maximum force to the brakes during emergency stopping situations. All of which work in harmony with the i30’s ABS (Anti-skid Braking System) for even greater security and reassurance.Safety is also built into the i30. It begins with a reinforced chassis - rigid cabin and crumple zones that are designed to cocoon occupants and absorb impact. These work in tandem with the SRS dual front, side, and front-to-rear curtain air bags to de-power the effects of a collision. In the event of a crash or sudden impact, front seat belt pretensioners and three point diagonal ELR seatbelts will hold and support all i30 occupants - while load limiters provide a slow and steady release at a safe speed, reducing the chance of torso damage. Every i30 station wagon also contains a separate safety pack located in the boot .
