• Staria embodies Hyundai Motor's new 'inside-out' design methodology, establishing a model for Purpose-Built Vehicle in the future mobility era.
• Maximised space utilisation, flexible seating with long sliding capability, along with the highest level of safety make STARIA suitable for business and family.
• Staria is available in 2-, 5- and 8-seat configurations in New Zealand.

10 August, 2021 – Hyundai New Zealand has taken the people mover and van category into a bold new direction with the arrival of Staria and Staria Load.

With a strikingly futuristic exterior based on the streamlined aesthetics of a spacecraft, its standout design features include available horizontal daytime running lights that span across its front end, expansive panoramic windows, and a roof height optimised for premium comfort and convenience.

Taking the place of iMax and iLoad in the Hyundai range, Staria is very different people mover and van with a far broader range of capabilities.

Hyundai New Zealand General Manager, Andy Sinclair says, “It's undeniable that New Zealand finally has a cool looking people mover. And it's kitted out with segment-leading technology and safety features ideal for families.

Van drivers spend hours in their vehicle, and with Staria Load, they now have the comfort they deserve. The increase in cargo space is also significant, which will be of value to businesses.”

Engineered from the ground up on a dedicated passenger car platform shared with Santa Fe, Staria provides car-like handling, ride and refinement.

Setting the passenger-orientated Staria apart is the availability of Hyundai’s in-house developed HTRAC AWD system in the top specification option. 2WD and AWD variants are both powered by a 430Nm 2.2 CRDi turbo-diesel and paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

All-new Staria’s cruise ship-inspired, super-practical interior, is topped by cutting-edge tech in the Limited model, in the form of dual 10.25-inch displays – a Satellite Navigation multimedia system and a full digital virtual instrument cluster.

Further convenience features in the Limited include; real leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, power-operated smart sliding side doors and a power tailgate with walk-away function, Smart Key with Push Button and Remote Start, and Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM), Surround View Monitor (SVM) and a Rear Passenger View Monitor.

A segment-leading selection of leading-edge SmartSenseTM advanced safety and driver assistance technologies includes firsts such as a Blind-spot view monitor, and Hyundai’s pioneering front centre side airbag, as a part of a seven-airbag suite.

Standard on the entry model is a wireless smartphone charger, five USB charging ports, a grand total of 16 cupholders, a 4.2-inch colour TFT driver information display, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

There are also standard Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist (FCA-JT), Blind Spot Collision Avoidance-Assist (BCA-R) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) systems.

Staria represents a bold leap forward that brings a truly competitive offering to the people mover segment, giving customers the space, freedom and flexibility for any adventure they can imagine.

The commercial Staria Load is available in either two-seat window or panel van or five-seat crew van configurations. It is front-wheel-drive only, and powered exclusively by the 2.2 diesel engine. Customers can choose from a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed auto.

Staria Load will roll exclusively on 17-inch steel wheels and comes with power windows, power mirrors, and wireless smartphone charging, as well as sharing most of the people mover version's safety features.

Dimensionally speaking, Staria models share the same 5253mm length, 1997mm width, and 3273mm wheelbase, with the only difference being the Load's marginally taller height (1990mm vs 2000mm).

The two-seater Staria Load will be able to swallow three Euro pallets thanks to its almost 5000 litres of cargo space.

Staria can also tow, with an ample 2500kg capacity. Both versions can handle more than 1070kg in payload, with a slight advantage going to the five-seater (1078kg vs 1072kg). The Load variant has sliding doors on both sides and a choice of lift-back or twin-swing rear door arrangement.

Staria models are available in six exterior colours: Creamy White, Graphite Gray, Black, Moonlight Cloud, Dynamic Yellow, and Shimmering Silver Metallic.

Hyundai plans to add eco-friendly Staria variants in the coming years.
