What is Hyundai Auto Link?

Hyundai Auto Link, available in 2 options (Bluetooth® & Premium), is an app that is installed on a compatible smartphone that connects you to your Hyundai vehicle (supported vehicles only).

Hyundai Auto Link Connected Car Service analyses your driving behaviour, driving history and assists with economical driving as well as monitoring your vehicle for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTCs are detected, it automatically sends diagnostic data via the Hyundai Auto Link application (while the application is running) to Hyundai New Zealand's Ambassador Team.

It also provides a convenient way to book your vehicle in for a service.

With the Premium version additional features include; Remote Control – Engine Start/Stop, Doors Lock/Unlock & Climate Control setting.

Does Hyundai Auto Link work with all Hyundai vehicles ?

 No. Hyundai Auto Link Premium is standard on the All-New Santa Fe Limited models. Hyundai Auto Link Bluetooth® is standard on Entry & Elite models – customers can upgrade to Premium.

We will be making Auto Link Premium available on other models; Kona Elite & i30 Elite & Limited (Model Year 2018) models.

How do I find the Hyundai Auto Link App in the App Store ?

Search for “Hyundai Auto Link NZ” & “Hyundai Auto Link Premium NZ ” in the App Store or Google Play Store. If it is not found, check your smartphone is compatible on the list of compatible devices.

Which mobile devices / Operating Systems are compatible with Hyundai Auto Link Bluetooth® & Premium?

Hyundai Auto Link will work with OS versions:

- Android 5.0 (and above): compatible with all android phones that support 5.0 and above

- iOS 9.0 (and above): all iPhone after iPhone 5 (5, 5s, 6, 6+, 6s, SE, 7, 7+, 8, 8+, X)

Do I need to set up an account?

Yes, customer account set-ups are required for Auto Link Bluetooth® or Auto Link Premium services.

Is there a cost associated with Auto Link Bluetooth® or Auto Link Premium?

Auto Link Bluetooth® hardware is included as standard equipment for MY2019 Santa Fe Entry & Elite models (& Kona & i30) and there is no subscription costs, the Hyundai Auto Link Bluetooth app is free to download from App Store & Google Play Store.

Auto Link Premium hardware is included as standard equipment for MY2019 Santa Fe Limited model and includes a 3-Year subscription to the service, the Hyundai Auto Link Premium app is free download from App Store & Google Play Store.

What is the cost to upgrade to Auto Link Premium?

RRP$299 and includes 3-Year subscription to the service. The installation can be done at any of our authorised Hyundai Dealers or Service Agents. Dealer booking required.

What is included in the subscription service for Auto Link Premium ?

With Auto Link Premium, can the vehicle be driven by anyone if the vehicle is remotely started ?

The vehicle can only be driven if the vehicles on-board computers detect the smart key/proximity key is inside the vehicle with the driver. If the smart key/proximity key is NOT detected and the brake pedal is pressed to move the shift lever into D or R-Ranges the engine will stop running.

Can you remotely lock with an occupant in the vehicle ?

Yes.

Can you remotely lock the vehicle with the actual smart key/ proximity key still inside?

Yes.

Can you remotely unlock for family member to get access to the vehicle?

Yes.

Why can’t I stop my Hyundai vehicle engine remotely?

The engine can only be stopped remotely if it was remotely started and the vehicle doors (or bonnet) and boot have not been opened.

What app security measures / safeguards are in place if I use Auto Link Bluetooth® and Auto Link Premium?

Auto Link Bluetooth® - uses 256 bit data encryption.   

Auto Link Premium ? – uses the same level of data security and information transfer as Auto Link Bluetooth® (256 bit data encryption).

Other security levels for Auto Link Premium include an account re-authentifcation every 90-days from account set-up date.

What / When do I need to do with the re-authentifcation?

Every 90-days from Auto Link Premium account set-up date, the account holder is required to re-authenticate themselves. This is done by opening the Auto Link Premium app on your smartphone, starting your vehicle with the smart key / proximity key and entering the exact mileage reading as shown on your vehicle’s cluster.

Can the Auto Link hardware be swapped over to another Hyundai vehicle?

At this stage only dedicated models support Auto Link Premium and the SIM CARD & Auto Link hardware is VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) locked.

What are the conditions for Valet Mode ?

When Valet Mode is enabled and you hand your Smart Key / Proximity Key over Hyundai Auto Link starts to monitor GPS position of vehicle, Customer Smartphone GPS & engine running time. You will receive an alert notification if your vehicle has an engine run time of more than 30 mins or if the vehicles GPS position is more than 2km away from the smartphone GPS location. 

Where do I access the vehicle health report ?

The Hyundai vehicle health report is available in the Hyundai Auto Link Premium app. (Menus - Vehicle management - Vehicle health check)

Why doesn’t the remote climate control work on the Hyundai Auto Link Premium app?

The vehicle's climate control system must first be set to “Auto” on the A/C control panel. Use the Hyundai Auto Link Premium app to first set the climate control temperature and then use the remote start function to start the engine, the remote climate control setting will be applied to the Hyundai vehicle.

What should I do if I no longer own my Hyundai vehicle and had been using the Hyundai Auto Link Premium service?

If you sell or transfer ownership of your vehicle to another person, you must cancel the Hyundai Auto Link Premium service. You are responsible for notifying or informing other users or drivers, who use your vehicle that the vehicle is fitted with a Hyundai Auto Link hardware.  See FAQs ‘How do I cancel Hyundai Auto Link Premium service?’

Path : Menu > Configuration > Deactivate / Detect Account  - NOTE : This process only removes all Vehicle information linked to the Auto Link account (for example when selling your vehicle). To fully delete your personal / account information please call the Hyundai Ambassador Team on 0800 498 632. Who is the mobile network provider for Hyundai Auto Link Premium Services ?

What is the warranty period for Auto Link ?

The Hyundai Auto Link hardware is covered by your vehicle’s warranty in accordance with the terms as published in the owner’s manual for the vehicle. Your vehicle’s warranty does not cover the Hyundai Auto Link service itself which is provided to you on an “as-is” and “where-is” basis.

I cannot receive GPS.

It takes time for the GPS to be recognised for a few minutes after turning the power on.

GPS must be activated in your smart phone in order for it to work for Hyundai Auto Link. GPS signals can be weak in densely populated areas and underground areas such as car parks or tunnels.

Can I get into the vehicle and drive after I remotely start my Hyundai vehicle?

To drive away in your Hyundai vehicle after it has been remotely started, the driver’s door must be opened first and the smart key / proximity key must be present in the vehicle.

 The engine will shut down if:

  1. You open any door other than the driver’s door first
  2. You open the driver’s door and close it without the smart key / proximity key present a closing the door transfers the control of the vehicle from the app to smart key / proximity key.
  3. Depress the brake pedal without the smart key / proximity key present in the vehicle.

What driving and personal information can Hyundai New Zealand see ?

Hyundai New Zealand can see all your driving history and personal information which includes and not limited to:

- Vehicle location

- Past driving history and driving performance & patterns   

- Name, mobile number, email address, home address

I heard the Auto Link Premium Module has its own dedicated SIM Card, can it be used as an internet Hot Spot?

No, the Auto Link network work does not support Hot Spot for an internet connection.

Spark New Zealand SIM CARDS & network services are used for Auto Link Premium.
