Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new mid-sized sedan, codenamed the YF, has made its international debut in the South Korean domestic market and will be available in New Zealand in the first half of next year.
The YF’s new design has met with widespread acclaim already and will definitely make waves when it enters into one of New Zealand’s most fiercely competitive segments. This segment is ruled by innovative design, safety features and fuel economy and this vehicle is set to become the new benchmark for this sector.
"The YF has been designed to replace the Sonata and is a hugely important introduction to our model range here in New Zealand. With its whole new design and outstanding performance we are foreseeing that this model will be key in taking the Hyundai brand to the next level," says Tom Ruddenklau, Hyundai New Zealand National Sales Manager.
"The YF is a model codename and the name plate of the model will be determined shortly after extensive market research is completed. We expect to launch the YF early in 2010, and it is highly likely we will see a continuation of the i-series naming convention."
The all-new YF was designed through a collaboration between the Namyang and the Californian design studios over four years at a cost equivalent to NZD$523 million (US$ 372 million).
Six airbags, ESP stability control, Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist Control are all standard, resulting in world-class occupant protection that meets (or exceeds) stringent global safety standards. Additionally, the new sedan is built with hot-stamped ultra-high-strength steel to optimise the efficient design imperatives of increased structural strength and reduced weight.
Mr Ruddenklau finished by saying:

We are looking forward to it landing on our shores in the near future. "
