Sonata - Car of the Year 2005

National Business Review’s selection of the Hyundai Sonata as Car of the Year 2005 came as no surprise, despite the vehicles short time in the New Zealand market.  Sonata raised the bar for safety with six standard airbags (dual front, dual side and dual (front to rear) roof curtain airbags), standard active front headrests, standard ABS and for the first time in a mid-size sedan, standard Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).

The addition of ESP plus standard Traction Control System (TCS), and standard ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BAS) started a new level of driving assurance to the mid-size sedan segment buyer.
